Ginger Ink and One Fine Day Films have collaborated yet again to produce a Kenyan film, ‘Veve’. In case you have been living under a rock, this is the same team that brought us the films, ‘Soul Boy‘ directed by Hawa Essuman, ‘Nairobi Half Life‘ directed by Tosh Gitonga and ‘Something Necessary‘ directed by Judy Kibinge.

‘Veve’ is a slang word for khat or miraa. The film is set in the town of Maua in Kenya and follows the lives of multiple characters whose lives collide against the backdrop of the unregulated and often dangerous veve business. The film is directed by Simon Mukali and stars Lowry Odhiambo, Emo Rugene, Lizz Njagah and Conrad Makeni.

‘Veve’ premiers this Thursday, 28th August at the Junction. The premier is by invitation only but there will be tickets on sale for a special preview on the same night for fans that will kick off at 8.15pm. Tickets for the special preview are going for Kshs 500 and can be purchased from Junction. See the film’s Twitter and Facebook page for more details.

The film will begin showing at the Junction from September 6th. In the meantime, you can watch the trailer below.
