Simphiwe Dana Koroga Festival

The Koroga Festival, a bi-monthly music and arts festival, is set to captivate festival goers on Sunday, November 9th 2014. The 4th edition of The Koroga Festival will see the renowned South African Afro-soul singer Simphiwe Dana grace Nairobi’s Arboretum Gardens, ahead of the singer’s upcoming album launch.

Simphiwe Dana, often compared to Miriam Makeba, Amy Winehouse and Billie Holiday with her compelling vocals , is a renowned South African Afro-soul singer.  Dana is known for her musicality and smooth vocals that blends traditional African music, contemporary soul and hints of gospel and blues. Among the songs in Dana’s repertoire are ‘Ndiredi’, ‘Troubled Soldier’, ‘Chula Ukunyathela’, ‘Bantu Biko Street’, ‘Zundiqondisise’, ‘Uzobuya Nini’, ‘Sonini Nanini’ and ‘Naphakade’.

In 2005, Simphiwe Dana won the “Best Newcomer” award and Best Jazz Vocal album at the 11th South African Music Awards with her first album “Zandisile”.Two years later, she was named the “Best Female Artist”, with the song “The One Love Movement on Bantu Biko Street”, at the 13th South African Music Awards.

With an all-star line-up of musicians including Kenya’s Atemi and Amileena, backed by popular deejays Protégé and Adrian, festival goers will be treated to another Sunday afternoon of captivating entertainment.

Advance tickets are KSh 1,500 on Ticket SASA and KSh 2,000 at the gate. Children below 12 years of age are free. Food and drinks are strictly prohibited.
