6 Reasons to Download The New OLX App

There are tonnes of apps available on various mobile stores that are geared towards improving the user experience on a site. Sometimes these apps prove to be worth downloading and other times, they prove to be borderline worthless. My pet peeves when it comes to apps include the amount of space they take up as well as the amount of data running the app consumes and the lack of intuitiveness in the user experience. When I heard that OLX has launched a new app, I was pretty excited as I’d been hearing some good things about it.

Here are 5 reasons to download the app.

The app is new, not an upgrade. This is pretty fantastic as it means that it’s a completely new experience, and so is definitely worth checking out. It’s prudent to therefore delete the old app before downloading the new one as the old app will be redundant.

Seriously, it does. As a user that is constantly looking for ways to save on mobile data, this is a big win for me. It shows that the app developers as well as the company are listening to what consumers want.

3.It has a new chat feature

In-app Chat allows buyers and sellers to interact within the web and app via instant chat messaging and direct chat with other users who are logged in online. If the seller is offline, the chat feature gives the buyer an SMS option whereby the app itself will take them to their messaging app to compose a new message. They don’t even need to key in the number as the app inserts it for them. This is definitely a lifesaver as there’s nothing worse than having the risk of sending a message to the wrong number…

4.Great safety features

The new OLX app makes the platform safer for users in four main ways:

• All photos are watermarked by the system. This means that an already existing photo cannot be re-used by anyone else claiming to sell a similar product, thus eliminating conmen in this front.
• There is a report button that is visible when a buyer is contacting a seller. This enables buyers to report any suspicious trends portrayed by a seller.
• Safety tips are listed on the site. This will ensure that all users are constantly reminded to transact safely.
• Email verifications for sellers are now required before posting items to authenticate owners of adverts hence eliminating conmen who tend to use ad hoc emails.

5.My Account feature

The new app is user friendly and allows for easy navigation on the site. The My Account feature allows users to manage their accounts by editing, deleting and updating all their items on the go. Users can also block other users who perhaps are pestering them.

6.OLX Ad Support

With a user’s permission, the OLX support team can edit an advert on a user’s behalf to correct spelling errors or rearrange images on an advert. The posting page also helps users improve their chances of selling their products by prompting user to post a higher quality advert with more characters in title and description.
