Canon showcased their latest broadcast and cinema range products at the IBC 2016, the leading global tradeshow for the media and broadcast industry. Canon demonstrated its full range of professional imaging products that demonstrated Canon’s Full HD, 4K (digital TV and digital cinematography) and HDR (High-dynamic-range imaging) products, through a variety of end-to-end workflow scenarios – from shooting experiences, to review and editing processes, including innovative low-light and long distance live shooting demos.

The new flagship Cinema EOS models – EOS C700 (EF/PL) and EOS C700 GS PL 

The EOS C700 (EF/PL) and EOS C700 GS PL are ready for the 4K generation, enabling high-end production houses and broadcasters to intuitively and easily shoot with a wide dynamic range, in supreme quality. The EOS C700 cameras capture creative slow motion 4K video footage internally with high frame rates of up to 59.94P/50P and 2K up to 200p/240p (sensor crop mode), or 4K RAW up to 100P/120P, to the optional dockable Codex¹ RAW recorder. For a truly integrated, efficient and reliable HDR workflow all versions of the EOS C700 can connect directly to the incredible 4K display monitor – DP-V2420 – a high luminance monitor that is capable of supporting the new ITU-R BT.2100 standard for HDR output.

4K camcorder with high-end audio interface – the XC15

The XC15 follows in the footsteps of the popular XC10 and is a compact, 4K (UHD) and Full HD video camcorder with stills capability, aimed at content creators such as news gatherers and independent or documentary filmmakers. The XC15 includes a microphone adapter with dual XLR inputs for professional audio capture, quick autofocus and a 24p frame rate option for cinematographers.

For photographers in pursuit of the EOS 5D Mark IV

The EOS 5D Mark IV is the newest addition to the legendary EOS 5D family, designed for photographers on a quest to capture the perfect shot. Featuring a 30.4 megapixel CMOS sensor with wide exposure latitude, 7 frames per second (fps) high speed shooting, internal 4K movie recording and built-in Wi-Fi and GPS, the camera fuses speed and resolution with excellent low light capability and movie functionality. The EOS 5D Mark IV is also the first EOS camera to premiere the innovative Dual Pixel RAW file format, allowing photographers to fine-tune images in post-production by adjusting or correcting the point of sharpness, shifting the foreground bokeh or reducing image ghosting.

High-quality professional displays – the DP-V2420 and DP-V1710

The DP-V2420 and DP-V17190 are professional displays, designed to meet the needs of 4K broadcast and cinema production workflows. The DP-V2420 is a 24- inch high-luminance reference display ideal for High Dynamic Range (HDR) content creation, whilst the DP-V1710 is an industry-first 17-inch professional display created for outside broadcasting vans and studios. The models combine Canon’s image processing engine with a proprietary backlight system and an IPS LCD panel to deliver incredible colour reproduction, high-resolution and high- contrast visuals.

Premium 4K broadcast lens – UJ27x6.5B IESD

The UJ27x6.5B IESD is a 2/3” lens for broadcasters needing outstandingly high resolution and contrast in 4K High Dynamic Range (HDR) workflows. Offering revolving power beyond 4K and a 27x optical zoom, the lens is an essential tool for a range of professional broadcast environments. The new addition will bridge the optical zoom gap of current ENG, studio and field box 4K HDR lenses, meeting the needs of today’s broadcasters.
