The 2nd annual edition of the East Africa music summit, ONGEA!, is going down this Thursday 16th to Sunday 19th February, from 12.00pm to 10.00pm Daily, at Sarit Centre Expo Hall. Entry is Free. ONGEA! was born out of Kenya Music Week, which ran every December for 10 Years, from 2004 to 2013. Since Kenya Music Week had achieved its objectives for the Kenya music industry, the scope was Broadened to the Eastern Africa region, whereby, the three Pillars still remain: Trade, Learn and Showcase. The successful Debut of ONGEA!, The Eastern Africa Music Summit, was in January 2016, by PHAT! Music & Entertainment Limited.

Doors will open at 12.00pm daily and visitors will be able to meet Industry Professionals, at 57 Trade Exhibition stands, over the 4 days including Artists, Associations, Bands, Booking Agents, Collective Management Organisations, Digital Distributors, Educational Institutions, Media Houses, Record Labels, Regulators, Technical Suppliers and more, from Cameroon, Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania and Uganda.

There will be opportunities for business to business deals in the Networking Lounge, courtesy of Extra Dimensions and free demo recordings at Studio Transparent run by PHAT! Intellectual Property with Artville Music as well as Open Mic from 12.30pm to 2.00pm daily for upcoming musicians, with auditions for Sauti Academy on Saturday and Sunday, where 2 fully paid 1 year Scholarships will be up for grabs.

Open Mic will be followed by 2 Industry Panels per day, at 2.30pm-4.00pm and 4.00pm-5.30pm, where the Thought Leaders of the Eastern Africa Music Industry will discuss Broadcast, Digital Distribution, Festival Bookings, Live Sound, Monetising Compositions, Music & Culture, Music Education, and Rights Compliance. Every night, 6.00pm-10.00pm, there’ll be showcase performances, for a total of 29 during ONGEA! 2017, with musicians from Cameroon, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda with support from Protel Studios, MOB Entertainment, Artville Music and PHAT! Productions.

All these showcase performances shall be keenly observed by Festival Bookers from Mozambique (Jess White of AKUM Agency, AZGO festival and IGODA festival circuit), Rwanda (Eric Karengera of AFROGROOV, Isaano festival, Kigali!Up festival and I am Kigali festival), South Africa (Tshepo Nzimande of Moshito) and Uganda (Herman Kabubi of Bayimba Festival and DOADOA) who have all Committed to Booking at least one Act from ONGEA! 2017, to Perform commercially at their Festivals this Year.

Additional features this year at ONGEA!, include the hosting of the 3rd Mdundo Awards, on Thursday 16th February (6.00pm-7.30pm), a World Record attempt to record the longest song with the most artists, by Mdundo and Artville Music, in Studio Transparent with PHAT! Intellectual Property and a social media training from The Bloggers association of Kenya (BAKE) will be carrying out a training on social media use on Friday 17th February from 9am to 11pm.

The entire event will be streamed live by Protel Studios via Highway Audiovisual on YouTube , Facebook and Instagram ONGEA! accounts from 12.00pm to 10.00pm on Thursday 16th to Sunday 19th February 2017.
