Just under 5 years ago, it was near impossible to find Kenyan natural hair and beauty products. When I went natural in 2015, I was using a lot of international brands as there were no local options available. In the last year though, a number of great Kenyan natural hair and beauty brands have come up that have revolutionized the market. I have used most of the brands on this list so I can confidently say that they are great quality and worth every penny. Also, the packaging of all these products is fantastic.

Here’s a list of Kenyan natural hair and beauty brands worth checking out.

1. Mugzie’s Naturals

Mugzie’s Naturals is probably my favourite brand right now. They have various products including hair butter, body butter, lip balm, bentonite clay and massage oil all made from natural ingredients such as shea butter, cocoa butter, coconut oil and peppermint. They also have products made specifically for men including beard cream. All the products smell and feel so good I am definitely a fan especially of the hair butter and body butter.

2. Marini Naturals

Marini Naturals is a natural hair brand with lots of products including curling butter, leave in conditioner, hair oil,, shampoo and daily spritz. The products smell really good and I especially love the daily spritz.

3. Luguah Naturals

Luguah Naturals has my favourite packaging of all the products on this list. They produce both hair and body products including lip balm, hair butter, body scrub and body butter. One of the things I love about Luguah products is the rich ingredients in the products like strawberry, vanilla, black castor, peppermint and cinnamon.

4. Bu.Ke (formerly known as Shea by Asal)

Bu.Ke has both hair and body products including shampoo bars, bentonite clay, body soap bars and hair growth stimulating oil. I’m a huge fan of Bu.Ke soaps especially the turmeric and raw shea butter bars.

5. Mosara

Mosara is a natural hair brand that produces products including shampoo, conditioner, coconut oil, moisture milk and leave in conditioner. I have used the moisturizer and conditioner and other than smelling heavenly, work really well.

6. Ajani Handmade

Ajani Handmade produces both natural hair and body products including hair and body butter, body scrub and essential oils. These products smell divine. I am especially in love with their limau nazi body scrub.

7. Harvest of Sunshine

Harvest of Sunshine has both hair and body products including lip balm, hair and body cleanser, leave in conditioner, loc and style, hair buttercreme and 3 in 1 conditioner. I haven’t used their products yet but I hear their leave in conditioner is fantastic.

8. Akusi Organics

Akusi Organics make body products that consist of a variety of natural soaps including charcoal facial soap, charcoal turmeric facial soap, carrot soap, watermelon soap, aloe vera soap, banana soap, rosemary soap, avocado and aloe vera soap and coffee and milk soap. There’s also a salt scrub. I haven’t used these products yet but everything sounds amazing and I love the use of all these ingredients that aren’t readily found in most products but we already know have great benefits.

9. Cinnabar Green

Cinnabar Green makes hair and body products including bath soaps, hand wash, body wash, body scrub, shampoo, conditioner, massage oil, essential oils, bath salts, toner, cleanser and facial cream. I haven’t used these products yet but when you have ingredients such as jojoba, lavender oil, hibiscus seed oil, baobab oil and orange and tea tree oil, they can only be good.

10. Keyara Organics

Keyara Organics produce body products including body balm, body butter, massage oil, hair food and coconut oil. They also have Keyara Man products including an aloe vera and almond oil shower gel. This is another brand I am yet to use but I have heard good things about their marula oil and shea nut oil.
