Kipekee is a music and poetry concert celebrating outstanding artistes and artists with a body of authentic, original work. The first edition will feature: Serro, Socratess and Sage, this September at the Michael Joseph Centre. By merging poetry with music, fans will be treated to an intimate and soulful expression through verse and melody.

Hulda Serro’s voice has been described as soothing, alluring and sweet and likened to chocolate-coated raindrops. She has music spanning several genres and topics, but is best of all known for her recent single “Rongai” in which she decries the pain of having a cheating partner. A multi-instrumentalist, Serro is becoming a sought-after artist that has graced many stages in the last couple of years.

Tess, best known as Socratess, was a runner-up at the 2016 Slam Africa poetry festival. She has a fierce stage presence and covers a wide variety of topics, from family to love in her poetry, but focuses mostly on women empowerment.  Tess can trace back her poetry to growing up and finding her mother’s poems strewn in various places in the house. At 11, she began to work on verses of her own to express what she was feeling. You can see some very personal experiences so eloquently described in her
poetry, which she hopes will alter perspectives in the woman’s place in society and in every sphere of life.

Finally, Sage Chemutai’s deep and alluring voice, which you might know from her first single ‘So Alive’ featuring Octopizzo, will be the third act to watch at Kipekee. She began singing in church at five, and has grown as a singer, songwriter and instrumentalist. Since breaking out on her own in 2011, she has released another single, Maskini, and has collaborated with many other artists. Her sound is aptly described as being a soulful fusion of everything musical, and she doesn’t shy away from showing real emotions through her songs.

Kipekee will be going down at the Michael Joseph Center on Friday the 8th from 6.30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Advance tickets are going for Ksh 500 and Ksh 800 at the gate. Tickets are available through my-tkt.com/kipekee or through MPESA to 0799131710.
