I’m a massive Phy fan. The girl has what it takes to be one of the biggest female stars out of Africa in my opinion. She’s already been garnering tonnes of attention thanks to her beautiful covers of Kenyan classics as well as her hit single, ‘Taboo’. Hot on the heels off the success of her last single, she has released a new jam, ‘Siwezani’.

The legendary Tim Rimbui better known as Ennovator, produced this track and I have to say I’m glad to hear new music from one of the best we’ve had in the industry. The video shot in Nairobi, by Brian KG films, tells the story of love in the time of Instagram and Tinder, and the pressure to conform to unattainable beauty standards, something I know a lot of women can relate to.

Phy looks stunning in the video and her vocals are something to behold. (Honestly, I need to know who did her makeup and styling because everything is gorgeous.) Siwezani is the first of new projects from Phy to be released in the last quarter of 2017 as the singer gears up for a tour of Russia later this month.

With a tiny frame that hides a giant voice and even bigger ambition the Ennovatormusic Records artist, Phy, was profiled in 2017, CNN African Voices along Tanzania’s Diamond as the Key talent to watch out for this year. With two albums, Phylosphy and Biography under her belt, as well as headlining numerous live shows and brand ambassador projects after winning MNet’s flagship star search completion, superstar, Phy’s star continues to rise. Her music can be categorized as Nu RnB, TrapSoul, Pop and I am really excited about the direction Phy is going in.

Fav moment: That solitary tear going down Phy’s face. Really feel the pain in this jam at the moment.

Jam best for: Telling off that guy that is with you but wants you to perform a fantasy because he doesn’t want to put in the work to be with an actual woman.
