Bio Oil, the specialist skincare oil which contains the ingredients PurCellin Oil, vitamin A, vitamin E and natural plant oils like lavender, chamomile and rosemary,  turned 30 in 2017 (I can’t believe this product is older than me) and I thought it would be a good time to share some of the creative ways I use the product.

Yes, it’s mostly known for its use on stretchmarks and scars, but there are plenty of other ways you can use bio oil.

Skin moisturizer

You can substitute bio oil as your daily moisturizer, or add it to your body oil as I do. I have a yummy mix of oils for my daily moisturizing needs that includes coconut oil, tea tree oil and peppermint oil that I then add a fe drops of bio oil to for everyday use.

Bio oil also comes in handy when you have dry flaky skin especially ashy elbows, heels and lips and works really well to soothe sun burned skin.

Make-up application and removal

Sometimes foundation can be a little too thick for our liking. Add a little bio oil in with your oil to make it thinner and more moisturizing. You can also do the same with your bronzer and eye shadow.

Bio oil can also be used to take off make-up especially eye make-up.

Hair care

Bio oil is great for sealing ends especially when they are brittle and damaged. It’s also great for promoting hair growth – massage into the scalp for best results. I also add it to my shampoo to reduce an itchy scalp.

Nail care

Use bio oil to soften cuticles and keep your nails strong and healthy.

Bath and general relaxer

Pour a few drops into your bath water along with your usual oils for a relaxing bath. You can also massage it onto your skin especially your temple points to ease stress. It also reduces the appearance of dark circles and cellulite.
