Kotex Maxi Pads Review
Periods are a part of a lot of our lives. Mine have been in my life since I was eleven years old. It’s been a lot of learning about my body and its needs. And a lot of trying of different products to make sure my periods are as comfortable as possible.
My cycle is like clockwork, something I’m grateful for, and has been so from the beginning. I prefer order in my life, and I’m glad that my menstrual cycle is predictable. This of course, is not the case for all menstruators. This is why it’s important for every menstruator to have the knowledge, tools and space to understand and care for their own bodies.
I have created a period care routine for myself to keep my periods as comfortable as possible. I realized early on that spending what is a substantial amount of my life in discomfort and anxiety was robbing me of joy. I’m not talking about the things we don’t have much control over like PMS and cramps, but my mindset about periods in general. Being loving and kind towards myself during my periods has relieved a lot of the anxiety as I have stopped dreading what is a natural process, and instead embraced it.
That being said, I have included period care into what I call my Mwende box. There are period care boxes and these are great, but they are focused wholly on periods. My Mwende box is a self-care box that has everything from skincare products to haircare products to period care products, and everything in between. I’m still building it, especially as I need it more than ever during this global pandemic, and it’s a wonderful experience.
One of the things I’ve been looking to add as far as period care is concerned, is a pack of maxi pads. The ones I’ve used in the market haven’t been efficient as I tend to leak, especially at night. I’ve therefore been looking for pads that can handle a heavy flow for sometime.
I was therefore pleased to learn that Kimberly Clark, manufacturers of Kotex, had launched a new range of Kotex Maxi Pads in the market, as a response to requests by customers like me. I was even more pleased when I received a package from Kotex featuring the new pads to celebrate the launch of the She Can Awards, as well as to mark Menstrual Wellness Month.
I was already on my period when I received the package, and immediately began to use them.
The packaging is the great Kotex packaging that I love. On opening the pack and unsealing the pad, I was happy to see that it is definitely a great size maxi pad.
The maxi pads are thicker with a dual cover, fast absorb centre to prevent leakage, with an extra soft and smooth fabric for comfort.
I used them for the rest of my period and had no leakages, even at night. I’m definitely adding the Kotex maxi pads to my box and I’m glad Kotex listened and took action on feedback from customers.

I love the KOTEX maxi pads too, they are the right kind to use at night . In the past I had to constantly wake up and change but not with these.
They have great tampons and liners too.
Thanks Mwende.
I had bought Korex pads, tampons and panty liners in bulk. This is the second cycle I’m using them and the itching is just unbearable. I had the the itching the first time and ended up treating candidiasis but I gave it a benefit of doubt only for it to recur!!! I hate this brand and will never buy it again!!!!
Exactly! On top of the itching,it causes rashes which makes a menstrual cycle even more uncomfortable..It’s given me boils too,I can’t stand kotex pads..I’m never ever ever buying that brand ever again!! The cheapest of the cheap pads are better than kotex!
I have been using it for over a year and everytime after periods, I get funny vulva bumps which scares me to think they are cancerous God forbid,,,, I’m a medic and not sexually active so I was sure not an sti. Thanks for this comment.. I wanted to hear if anyone has reacted to this
I’m never buying Kotex ever again! It causes rashes & boils, mind you I NEVER got boils until I used Kotex brand pads..It is not fun on top of having to deal with menstrual cycles..The cheapest generic pads are better than Kotex 100%
This is the most poorly designed product I have had the misfortune to use. The ” wings” are totally useless; the pad simply dies not stay put
