Commonwealth book prize logoCommonwealth Writers is an initiative by Commonwealth Foundation which seeks to unearth, develop and promote the best new fiction from across the Commonwealth. One of the ways it does this is through the Commonwealth Short Story Prize.

The prize is an annual award for unpublished short fiction (2000 to 5000 words), is funded by the Commonwealth Foundation and covers the Commonwealth regions of Africa, Asia, Canada and Europe, Caribbean and Pacific. There will be five winners, with one winner selected per region and an overall winner selected out of the regional winners. The overall winner takes home £5,000 with the remaining four regional winners taking home £2,500. The prize is open to writers who are citizens from the Commonwealth who are 18 years old and above.

The prize is open for submissions from 15th September to 15th November (12 noon GMT). You can read more here on the submission guidelines.
