The best of Selif Keita has to be Africa…perfect Afro-pop that relates to my roots. And even though that is not my lingo,it is well woven to make the listener feel at home and acknowledged.
Has to be Mandela. A tribute to an icon.
Frankly I don’t know any of his songs and getting the ticket might be a way of opening me to a whole world of his music.
I’ve heard really good things about him and his music. *Ni hayo tu * ?
My favourite Salif Keita song is La Differance. It speaks on the struggles people with Albinism have. eg. Tanzania human sacrificing of Albinos.I hope more will be done to protect ‘different’ human beings.
Tomorrow
Tomorrow, You’re gonna have to live with the things you say
Tomorrow, You’ll have to cross bridges that you burned today
Tomorrow
And everything you do, it’s coming back for you
You’ll never outrun what waits for you
Tomorrow.
The why?
It speaks to our everyday lives.
My favourite song is AFRICA..I love, I love AFRICA,WHY,first we sang the song back in highschool music festival competition.secondly it makes me feel an African.will love to see Salif Keita..Good song..
My favorite Salif Keita song is Tekere. I love this song because of how catchy it it. The beats make you dance and can lift you up when you’re having low moments. Tekere is one of those songs that makes you dance and feel good about the world when you hear it
Hey Mwende! My favourite song by Salif Keita is Tomorrow, because of its poignant nature, dwelling on the inevitability of death, and saying that he might see his dead friend tomorrow, now that he is gone.
Picking a favorite Salif Keita song is like asking me to pick my favorite bite of ice cream. Do you pick the first since it will always be the sweetest? Do you pick the last because it lingers with you until the next opportunity? But alas, choices I am forced to make. Without a doubt, La Difference is my favorite of this artist’s extensive catalog. Putting aside the phenomenal stop motion/ long exposure/ so good music video, the song enters your body and perhaps if you listen intently enough your soul. For the short duration of time, your troubles melt away as the melody washes over all of your senses. Perhaps for french speakers, there is an additional layer of meaning from the spoken words, but for me, the music makes me feel enough already.
Thank you all for your wonderful comments.
