Transformer TAF 2-in-1 PC model Asus

ASUS Kenya has today announced the launch of its annual back to school promotion, with an offering of the Transformer T100 TAF model, a 2-in-1 notebook PC. The promotion which will run from 7th–21st September, will target students across the board. According to the Taiwanese multinational the device will address all round needs of the students, who constantly want both flexibility and durability, with their learning technologies.

Speaking at the launch, Derek Sung, Asus Kenya Product manager said, “The Transformer T100 TAF will meet the needs of determined, mobile and tech savvy students who have high expectations of their learning technology experience.”

The 10.1 inch ultraportable device features the Intel AtomTM bay Tail quad-core processor for smooth multi-tasking performance and can support up to 11 hours of battery power. The device is also pre-installed with Microsoft Office Home and student 2013 offering solutions for both school and work.

During the promo launch, Asus also announced that they would be introducing the new Transformer T100 HA model, in December during the Christmas period. The Transformer T100 HA, which falls under the Asus Transformer family, is similar to the T100 TAF model but with slight improvements.

The Transformer T100 HA features include: A pre-installed Windows 10 operating system, the latest quad-core Intel Atom x5 ‘Cherry Trail’ processor and it comes with 12 hours of battery life, which is an improvement of the previous Transformer TAF which runs for 11 hours. It is also powered with 4GB of RAM and an on board storage, ranging from 32 GB to 128 GB. Though the device maintains the same form factor, a 10.1 inch screen display, like the MacBook, it comes with a USB type-C reversible connector. However it also adds a micro SD card slot and a micro USB port. Its 2-in-1 design consolidates Asus drive in leading the hybrid space with the device’s combination of a lightweight laptop and a razor-thin tablet.

The magnetic hinge ensures that it automatically positions itself when docking to make the transformation between the laptop and tablet instantaneous. The detachable keyboard on the device is ergonomically designed for comfort, with key travel of 1.5mm optimized for extended typing sessions. When it comes to its weight, the hybrid machine weighs just 580g. It measure 8.45mm in thickness. This makes it comparable (at least the slate part) to the iPad 3 and the iPad Air in terms of dimensions and weight. The Transformer Book T100HA has an aluminium-clad lid for an elegant looks and premium feel. It comes in four stunning new color options: Silk White, Tin Grey, Aqua Blue and Rouge Pink.

The Transformer T100 HA launch comes after the multinational unveiled the device two months ago at the Computex 2015 event in Taiwan. It also comes at a time when the multinational is looking to increase its EMEA PC unit shipments, in the fourth Quarter. The PC maker hopes that this will in turn drive its growth further strengthening its PC market share across the region.
