Janet Kanini Ikua

The scourge that is cancer has been in the news a lot recently as more and more Kenyans are affected by it. The fact that our hospitals aren’t as equipped as they should be has made it difficult for a lot of Kenyans to get the required help. Even those who manage to get specialized care still struggle to meet the hefty bills that come with the treatment of cancer.

Janet Kanini Ikua, N-Soko property show host, joined the list of Kenyans fighting the battle against cancer. In April 2015, Janet was diagnosed with Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) that resulted in blood clots in her legs. The DVT led to further complications and Janet had to be urgently hospitalized a second time with blood clots in her heart and pulmonary artery. Even after this, the DVT kept recurring and Janet decided to seek further intervention in India. In September, Janet, accompanied by her husband George Ikua, travelled to New Delhi, where she was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer, which had spread from her lungs to her abdomen and lymph nodes.

Janet’s friends and colleagues from Nation Media Group, and other media groups, artistes and family are planning a family concert to raise funds towards her treatment. The concert will take place on 8th of November 2015, noon to 6pm, at the Carnivore Grounds in Nairobi.

Tickets for the concert are available at Ticket Sasa and are going for Ksh 1000 for adults and Ksh 500 for children. The concert will be hosted by Churchill, and will feature performances by Kenyan artistes including: Sauti Sol, P-Unit, Elani, Willy Paul, Juliani, Jaguar, Daddy Owen, H_art The Band, and many other artists.
