Playlist #1: 10 Jams by Contemporary RnB Divas
This week has been for the feels. I’ve been discovering and rediscovering some of my favourite contemporary RnB Divas. Just a side note that some of the music may not fit neatly into the RnB category. Here’s what’s currently on my playlist.
1. Jazmine Sullivan – Let It Burn
This whole album is fire (was actually nominated in this year’s Grammys) and I suggest you listen to all of it. Flawless vocals and sultry sound.
2. Melanie Fiona – Bite The Bullet
I can’t believe how underrated she is though! This is one of my favourite songs from her.
3. Ella Mai – Don’t Want You
My favourite new find. Can’t get enough of her voice and her music! This and ‘No Rush’ are my favourites on her mixtape.
4. Kehlani – The Way feat. Chance The Rapper
This song is reminiscent of a bygone era. You need to prepare yourself to watch this video. The choreography is A level.
5. Kali Uchis – Never Be Yours
I’m obsessed with her style and her voice. This is one of my favourites from her.
6. Tinashe – Vulnerable
I don’t know why this song wasn’t released as an official single! It’s pretty dope.
7. Teyana Taylor – Undercover
I like the 90s feel to this song and the video. Reminds me of SWV. Very fresh.
8. Sevyn Streeter – Say It (Tory Lanez Remix)
This is basically a reply to the Tory Lanez jam but it’s still a great song. Her voice is goals.
9. FKA twigs – Good To Love
FKA twigs isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. I’m a huge fan and this is a beautiful song.
10. Keke Palmer – I Don’t Belong To You
She’s all grown up now and this is the song that proves it! I like. A lot.
Bonus Track
11. Lianne La Havas – Unstoppable
One of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard. Lianne is something special.
