Fena Gitu is undoubtedly one of the best artistes to come out of Kenya. She has been in the game for over a decade and has steadily fashioned herself into a great artiste.

I’ve known Fena since high school and it was no surprise that she ventured into music. Okay, I lie, it was it was a slight surprise because we went to a school that is geared towards academic excellence and produces lawyers and engineers, and not musicians. In fact, I think it’s only Wahu, Fena and Wangechi that I know of that went the music way.

Fena Gitu kicked off 2020 with a brunch at Brioche for 5 fans and I of course, jumped at the chance to attend. The agenda was basically to give feedback to Fena and her management on what we love and what could be better, and it was a fun and interactive session.

Brioche is located inside The Alchemist compound and serves up a delicious brunch. It’s a great place to sit and enjoy good coffee and the amazing crêpes they are known for. Brunch was pretty filling and featured roast potatoes, chicken wings, paninis, beef skewers, fish fingers, salad and lots of tea from the sponsors of the brunch, Kericho Gold.

Fena put out her album, ‘Unleashed’ in 2019 and it’s her best yet. My favourites include, “Karibia”, ” Siri” and “Unleashed”. I will write an album review coming soon though!

In the meantime, I look forward to Fena doing bigger and better things in 2020 with her brand and her music.

Check out her latest video, Chai Moto, if you haven’t yet!
