I attended a Moët & Chandon paired dinner at Villa Rosa Kempinski in celebration of Global Champagne Day. Global Champagne Day is on October 22nd and Moët & Chandon celebrates through Moët Grand Day, and this was a taste of what to expect.

The dinner was graced via webinar by Pierre – Louis Araud, Private Clients Prescription at Moët Chandon who gave attendees an informative champagne class on the different Moët expressions and how to best enjoy them.

The dinner was delicious and worked well with the different Moët expressions. This is what was served.

Starter

Prawns with cauliflower sushi

Mango and cauliflower sushi

Tobiko and tamarind reduction

Paired with Moët Impérial Brut

Moët Impérial is the House’s iconic champagne. Created in 1869, it embodies Moët & Chandon’s unique style, a style distinguished by its bright fruitiness, its seductive palate and its elegant maturity.

In appearance it’s a golden straw yellow with green highlights.

On the nose is green apple and citrus fruit, the freshness of mineral nuances and white flowers and the elegance of blond notes like brioche, cereal and fresh nuts.

On the palate is pear, peach, apple, citrus fruit and nuances of gooseberry.

The freshness of Brut and the delicate flavours of the sushi.

Non vegetarian Mains

Beef tartare

(Fine minced beef, white onion, gherkin, mustard, quail egg yolk, herbed melba.)

Paired with Moët Rosé Imperial

Rosé Impérial is a spontaneous, radiant, romantic expression of the Moët &

Chandon style, a style distinguished by its bright fruitiness, its seductive palate and its elegant maturity.

In appearance it’s a glowing colour pink with amber highlights.

On the nose it’s a lively, intense bouquet of strawberry, raspberry and cherry, floral nuances of rose and a slight hint of pepper.

On the palate is the intensity of berries, the fleshiness and firmness of peach and the freshness of a subtle note of menthol.

The beef tartare is delicious but if you’re not a fan of raw meat, you should probably skip it. The fruitiness of the Moët Rosé Imperial enhances the beef and it was a great pairing.

Vegetarian Mains

Cottage cheese and vegetable biryani

(Spiced and flavorful basmati rice, slow cooked with marinated vegetable and paneer with ginger, mint and special chilli powder. Makhani sauce, chilli yogurt foam.)

Paired with Moët Nectar

Moët Nectar is exotic, rich and lively.

In appearance it’s a bold yellow with golden highlights.

On the nose is a burst of exotic fruits: pineapple, grapefruit, the roundness of stone fruits: mirabelle, apricot and a slight hint of vanilla.

On the palate is a combination of creaminess and vibrancy: The captivating density of exotic fruits: pineapple and passion fruit, The silky firmness of stone fruits: mirabelle and apricot and the brisk freshness of grapefruit notes.

Dessert

Summer Alaska

(Seasonal fruit carpaccio, natural fruit sorbet, baked ice cream.)

For dessert, you could choose your favourite Moët expression. I went with Brut because I still love the crispness of the original.

These kind of paired tastings are a great way to learn and experience the best Moët has to offer.

Santé!
