Jam of the Week: Disco by Patoh Njuguna feat Eric Wainaina and Frasha

This song, Disco by Patoh Njunguna feat Eric Wainaina has been on replay all week. It’s grown on me. I’m not sure if it’s the sultry vocals of Patoh Njuguna or the cool flow from Frasha or even the electric persona that is Eric Wainaina. ‘Disco’ is a love song with just enough funk in it. The lyrics are good and the song easy to sing along to.

The video is directed by Enos Olik and features Patoh, Frasha, Eric and their fun loving friends at the Ngong Hills wind farm. The wind turbines offer a great backdrop to the video. I especially love the grading of the video which leans towards a nice blue. The simplicity of the shots give the video a nice clean look. My two favourite shots are the silhouette shot of the trumpet players and that of the girl with her scarf in the wind.

This is Patoh Njugnuna’s first single and hopefully an indicator of good things to come from this up and coming musician.
