I cannot support systems or movements that don’t have it as a core belief that all human beings have intrinsic value. No one should be disposable. No one should be collateral damage. I am only interested in movements that have the courage to re-imagine the world, not fit in into already existing oppressive structures. The work of imagination can be difficult as it requires you to visualize what doesn’t exist. It requires you to believe that what has never been can be. It requires you to ignore and even fight the naysayers, who are either beneficiaries of existing systems and are therefore proponents of the status quo or those who are currently suffering and are afraid to hope and see their only way out as climbing the social ladder to be like their oppressor. Either way, you’ll be against those who don’t care for freedom for themselves or for others. Still, we must dare to imagine a better reality and work towards it. This is the only way humanity has ever moved forward, when a few people imagined things could change for the better.
