Enter Airtel Trace Music Stars And Become Africa’s Next Superstar

Are you a talented musician who is yet to make it because they simply haven’t had the opportunity? There’s some great news for you. Airtel and Trace have partnered to create the Airtel Trace Music Star singing contest.

Simply call the Airtel TRACE Stars number 0900 733 733 between 7th October 2014 and 12th December 2014. The call costs Ksh. 10 per minute and is exclusive to Airtel subscribers. The competition is open to people over 18 years. People younger than this must have parental consent to participate. You can choose to perform a song in any language or genre of choice. All languages will be considered as valid entries. You can use instruments but you must sing and only the singing will be considered.

You can listen to your entry online or on the Trace Stars number as soon as it has been moderated and approved for entry by visiting www.tracemusicstar.com and logging in with the details SMS’d to you upon subscription. You can customize your entry as well as share it on social media platforms and use that to garner votes. You can send in as many entries as you wish. TRACE will select winners based on a combination of singing skills and number of votes received.

The 5 best entries will be selected by a panel of judges and will be announced on 4^th January 2015.  The public will vote for their favourite entry through a short code 33733 and the winning Kenyan representative will then move to the Pan African stage to compete with other African representatives for the ultimate prize in March 2015. The competition is running in 13 African countries: Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Madagascar, Nigeria, Malawi, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Chad, Congo Brazzaville, The Democratic Republic of Congo and Gabon.

The Kenyan winner will walk away with a Subaru Impreza hatchback, first runners up will walk away with a phone worth Sh 90 000 and cash worth Sh100 000, with the second runners up winning a phone worth Sh 50 000 and cash worth Sh 50 000. The African overall winner will win a recording deal with Universal music, a professional music video and a mentorship programme with Akon in the US.
