Lookie Lookie: Spa Day at Spa Pal’s
Who doens’t love to get pampered? Our days can be so busy and I know that I sometimes have aches from sitting all day and daydream of a massage. I get the occassional manipedi and it always makes me feel more relaxed and of course having pretty nails boosts my confidence. I got the opportunity to check out Spa Pal’s and I must admit I was nervous as I always am when trying out a new place.
Spa Pal’s is on groundfloor at Greenhouse (next to Adams) on Ngong road. I had been booked in for a full spa day which would consist of a manipedi, massage, facial, hair styling and face beat. I have to admit that I was especially excited about the last two.
I started off with the spa manicure and I have to say it was hands down the best manicure I have ever had. The technician was out to impress and I appreciated the thorough hand scrub and massage as well as his perfect nail polish application skills. I’ve been to more expesive establishments and they weren’t as thorough with your hands as they are with your feet and too many nail technicians just don’t apply nail polish perfectly. I was surprised with myself because I had absolutely no complaints after he was done. The pedicure was good as well and I liked that the pedicure chair doubled up as a massage chair which had me really relaxed as I got my toes done.
The massage had me the most worried as I’ve had a few bad experiences and it’s not helpful that I have a weak back thanks to an old injury. The masseuse made sure I was comfortable and communicated every step of the way. This was important as I had so many knots in the neck shoulder area that there was some inevitable pain. My spine was also misaligned and she cracked my back to align it. I enjoyed the massage and it relieved the pain that had built up in my neck and shoulders.
The facial was next and it was with Exuviance products, which were new to me but are touted as some of the best skincare products on the market. It was relaxing and my face felt clean and light without the tightness that sometimes comes with facial products. I am happy to say that the products did not react to my skin, which was a concern for me as my skin is quite sensitive and breakouts are common when I use new products especially on my face.
The hair styling and face beat were my favourite part of what turned out to be a wonderful day. I loved that the stylist not only knew how to manage natural hair but was also very creative in her styling. I also loved how great the makeup turned out.
