Clinique Skincare Review
Skincare gets more important as we age, and as I get into my 30s, I am more aware of the ways in which I treat and take care of my body. I have a busy life, as do most women, and so I am not a fan of time consuming skincare routines, though I do put aside a little bit more time on the weekends for a more thorough version of my daily routine.
Some of the things I consider when adding products to my routine is that they do not strip my skin of moisture as my skin tends to dry out, so I am keen on ingredients. I have combination skin, which is pretty common and can be a challenge to manage. I went a step further by having an expert from Clinique test my skin and it turns out I have dry combination skin. Clinique has 4 skin type categories: Type 1 – very dry to dry, Type 2 – dry combination, Type 3 – combination oily and Type 4 – oily. All Clinique products have no parabens, no phthalates and no fragrance.
I had already been using the Deep Comfort body lotion, which is a favourite. It is silky smooth, very hydrating, fragrance free and hypoallergenic. My skin does stay moisturized all day so it’s a product I would recommend.
Clinique has a 3 minute 3 step routine – cleanse, exfoliate, moisturize – with the products to go with each category under the 4 skin type categories. To cleanse they have Facial Soap, to exfoliate they have Clarifying Lotion and to moisturize they have Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion/Gel.
I had been using the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion which falls under the moisturize category and I loved it so much I used it up and need to replenish it. It’s light and hydrating and left my skin glowing.
After trying out 2 products, I was curious to try more so I stocked up on a few more Clinique products during the skincare clinic at LM Network and have been using them for a few weeks now.
7 Day Scrub Cream Rinse-Off Formula
This product is best used over make-up free skin and exfoliates the skin, minimizing the appearance of fine lines and readying the skin for moisture. This would be the best place to start before going ahead to the 3 step routine. It’s a rinse-off formula and I use it only on the weekends when I am looking to deep cleanse.
Clarifying Lotion
This is so far my second favourite product. It’s a twice a day exfoliator and gets rid of any of the grime the cleanser did not clean away. Honestly it leaves my skin feeling refreshed and looking brighter, and there has been a marked improvement of my glow (as if that was possible) since I started using this product.
Super City Block Oil Free Daily Face Protector
I wear sunscreen every day, even in the house and welcome variety. This Clinique product is a SPF 40 daily sun protection in a weightless formula. It’s not as light as the sports sunscreen I am used to, but I like that I can use it as a primer especially under my eyes before I wear my concealer.
Take The Day Off Makeup Remover For Lids, Lashes & Lips
This is my favourite Clinique product. Taking off makeup can be a major pain and this remover is really thorough and I love that I can take off my matte lipstick and mascara without much of a fuss.
Clinique Berry Pop 15
I’m not big on lipsticks as I tend to prefer lip stains, but this lippie is a win. I love the bold colour, as well as how moisturizing it is. I’ve taken to wearing it almost daily and I will probably stock up on other colours as well.
There are a few more Clinique products that I am looking to try including the Facial Soap (to complete the 3 step routine), Moisture Surge Eye 96-Hour Hydro-Filler Concentrate, Moisture Surge Overnight Mask and Clinique Fresh Pressed Clinical Daily + Overnight Boosters with Pure Vitamins C 10% + A (Retinol).
