Life can be so busy. Going from work to school runs, to housework, and more. Fitting in running a business from home, or trying to drink enough water each day. There can be a lot of pressure to be everywhere and do everything. That piles on worry and stress. So it isn’t really a surprise that people are looking for ways to create peace in their lives.

Look For The Positive

While the news can often feel like it is going from bad to worse, you can take the time to find the positive news items. There are many. If you are interested in seeing some of the great things and people in the world, then check out TED Talks, the association for Peace, and the Good News Network.

Read good things and feel good things every day.

Limits

We all have personal boundaries, and sometimes we relax them and overburden ourselves. Piling more on top than we can handle well. Or letting people into our lives that we know aren’t going to be great for us. Another thing we all do is check our inboxes too many times a day, pick up the phone the moment a message appears. Start setting yourself limits. Don’t work after 9pm, enjoy a tech-free Sunday morning, don’t take on more than 3 projects at a time. Set limits the benefit you.

Slow Down

When you are rushing to get everything done, you will feel your stress levels naturally rising. In order to keep them down try slowing down. Most of the time, in order to slow down, you need to give yourself extra time. Extra time to get ready in the morning, rather than staying in bed longer. More time to arrive at the meeting or coffee date – by leaving earlier.

Clean

Not everyone likes to clean, in fact, some people avoid it. But once you find a method that works for you, it doesn’t become such a chore. If you don’t like the idea of diving into cleaning without timers or at least an endpoint, then you might like the 60-second method. If it will take you less than 60 seconds to do something, like put something away, rinse the glasses, or put the shoes away then just do it. By the time you have been through the 60 timers a few times, you might be surprised how much you’ve done. The other way is to put your favourite music on and dig in.

Create

Remember when you were younger, and you would colour in, ride a bike or write stories just for fun? Bring some of that back into your life. Find something that you enjoy and start working it into your daily or weekly routine. You can set a time on Saturday or Sunday that is dedicated to your hobby. Maybe it’s cooking big meals, perhaps it’s creating content – whatever it is – give yourself time to do it.
