Ndoto Zetu, launched 2019, is an initiative by the Safaricom Foundation to partner with Kenyans keen to make a difference in their communities through social investments. Education is key in the development of a community and of a nation. Education gives children, especially coming from backgrounds of poverty, the chance to not only escape poverty, but to also uplift their families.

Some of the projects Ndoto Zetu has supported in Education include:

Mizuka Youth Group

Mizuka Youth Group have been washing cars to make an income but it was slow because they did it manually. Through Ndoto Zetu, they acquired a car washing machine that has elevated the speed as well as the quality of work. This is set to see their income increase.

The Hailey Foundation

The Hailey Foundation in Mwihoko supports young women by giving them sewing skills they can use to start their own businesses. They had only one sewing machine and could only train 2 women at a time, but after receiving 10 sewing machines from Ndoto Zetu, they are now able to train 10 women every 6 months.

Earth Dam Self Help Group

The group members had come together to help one another to irrigate their farms but the pump they had access to wasn’t able to pump very far and was therefore insufficient. With this new pump, they are able to achieve their farming objectives.

This has seen their catering rate jump from Ksh 5,000 to Ksh 25,000 as they are now able to provide better quality services as well as cater bigger events due to increased capacity.
