You enjoy living where you currently live, but there are little things here and there that bug you. To make matters worse, these problems are technically out of your control. You can’t go and fix them yourself as they don’t have anything to do with you or your property. This makes life endlessly frustrating as you constantly have to deal with little issues now and then.

Well, what if you knew that you could do something about these common problems? If you contact your local council and get enough people to make noise, they are obliged to deal with certain issues in the community. Here are three problems they most certainly have to react to:

Terrible roads/pavements

Are the roads or pavements in your area extremely bad? Like, do they have potholes everywhere and massive cracks or ditches in them? Do you feel like your car is on the verge of breaking every day because of how bad the roads are? If you experience any of these issues, you should contact the local government and make them aware of them. There are plenty of instances of mayors that take action quickly – like Tony Vauss who paved 54 streets in his Township. If enough people complain about the state of the roads or pavements, action will be taken to improve them.

Excessive litter

Is there an abundance of fly-tipping or littering in your local area? This is a serious problem as it means the streets are covered in rubbish. There are a few reasons this can be a problem, one of which is that the local rubbish collections aren’t as frequent as they should be. If your rubbish is being collected once every two weeks, it’s a recipe for disaster. Other problems can be a lack of bins throughout your local area, but both problems can be solved by the council. Again, you need to rally the troops and make a joint community effort to get them to take notice of the problem. From here, they can deliver solutions that clean up your local area.

Overgrown greenery

Having green areas in your local community is obviously a good thing. It’s nice to have open park spaces or grassy areas to keep things fresh. However, problems stem from a lack of maintenance of these areas. Are there loads of weeds growing in your local park, or perhaps the grass hasn’t been cut in months? Do you have trees hanging over roads and causing potential accidents to happen? All of these things can be annoying, but your local council should be able to deal with them. Send in petitions or give them a call to let them know where the issues are. They should send a team out to conduct regular maintenance!

The moral of the story is that you can always have a positive impact on your community. Living as a community is all about coming together to improve your local area. If you spot any issues, raise them with your neighbours and contact the council about them.
